#11 - JR & Beth, Glewood Park Drive, Glenwood Park

Aside from the wonderful interior of JR and Beth’s Glenwood Park home, some of the first things you might notice are the great views. From the front of the house, there is an exterior balcony with Brazilian Cherry flooring, from which you can sit and listen to the chorus of frogs at Glenwood Park’s pond. From the back of the house, you can see the city of Atlanta’s skyline.
One of JR and Beth’s favorite features of their home is the galley style, open kitchen with its 50 square foot island (be sure to notice how the light reflects off the granite). The open floor plan of the living area on the second floor offers a positive flow for great entertaining opportunities.
Look up, and you’ll see how the building can have such an open floor plan on the second floor: the 1,800-pound exposed steel I-beams. And for the winter months, the living room boasts a custom Texas limestone fireplace.
JR and Beth’s 3-bedroom/3 ½ bath home was finished in 2007 as part of the green Glenwood Park development; the home is EarthCraft certified by the Southface Energy institute here in Atlanta. The insulation in the walls and attic is blown-in cellulose (derived from recycled newspaper) and, along with sealing measures applied to throughout the home, helps keep energy bills down to about $75 per month!
On the third floor, the master bath offers a spa-like retreat with Walker Zanger glass shower wall tiles, a pebble shower floor, a 6-foot claw-foot tub, and hardwood floors. The clipped ceilings on the top floor contribute to a cozy feel. Also notice that each of the bath rooms has suspended mirrors over the sinks.
Be sure to check out the great pocket doors throughout the home, and the assortment of various fun pieces of art that JR and Beth have collected.
