About SAND

What and where is SAND?
SAND neighborhoods include McDonough/Guice and Benteen Park on the south side of the area, with Woodland Hills and Boulevard Heights just to the north.  Continuing northward covers Ormewood Park, North Ormewood Park, and the new Glenwood Park mixed use development along the northern boundary of SAND, by Interstate 20.

What's in SAND?
Residents of SAND have three charter schools to choose from, including Atlanta Charter Middle School, Imagination Wesley School, and others.
New commercial developments have brought new businesses to SAND and new goods and services for residents. New developments in Glenwood Park, along with developments along Moreland Avenue at Ormewood Avenue and also on Custer Avenue, have brought new restaurants, gyms, dry cleaners, a bank, grocery stores, a drug store, fast food restaurants, new dining options, retail stores, and a dance studio.

What does SAND do with the money raised from the Tour of Homes?
All of the proceeds from the Tour of Homes go directly back to the neighborhoods, for public safety initiatives, neighborhood watches, beautification and public areas maintenance, and for the various neighborhood committees and public events held in SAND.
